Have you ever felt embarrassed or ashamed about your sexuality? As students we struggle with many things, but sexuality is one that is rarely discussed. It is hard for us, moving away from home and having to put yourself out there to meet new friends, especially if you haven’t embraced yourself first. You shouldn’t be ashamed of your sexuality because it’s a big part of who you are.

In 2016 people are still struggling to accept the LGBTQ community. It is hard for people to come out, or embrace their individual sexuality because of the scrutiny of people and hostile norms.

Women also have a hard time with self-acceptance. We like to pick at ourselves constantly, and this is a big factor as to why we often struggle to embrace our sexuality. The entertainment industry is based on the idea that women have the power of their sexuality, and that we are comfortable with sharing it. Celebrities like Miley Cyrus have embraced their sexuality, and are not afraid to flaunt it and show it off to the world. Embracing a feminine sexuality is the ultimate power one could possibly have. Women can have sex as much as they want, and with however many people they want. The fact that we are women doesn’t make us any less able than a man in embracing our sexuality. Men get congratulated for sleeping with tons of girls, and we get shamed and bullied.

Who you have sex with doesn’t limit who you are.

Celebrate your sexuality, because you are a better person when you do.
